Taylor Swift Fans Swindled Out Of $1.2 Million In Eras Tour Ticket Scams

GOING by the recent report by Lloyds Bank, fans who have been anticipating Taylor Swift’s Eras tour in the UK have fallen victim to ticket scams, and lost almost £1 million. Lloyds Bank has revealed that over 600 customers had reported that they were scammed and lost an average of £332 per victim. Some fans had also lost £1,000. The report also suggested that about 90% of the reported ticket scams began on Facebook.

 “Fans aged 25 to 34 who are trying to get their hands on sold-out tickets are most likely to be targeted, with many scams originating on social media,” Lloyds’ statement read.

In December, Karen Elrick fell victim to a Facebook account hack. That further led scammers to exploit her identity by posing as her and enticing unsuspecting users with fake offers for Taylor Swift tickets.

Unfortunately, Elrick’s friends were ensnared by this fraudulent scheme, each transferring approximately £750 in hopes of securing tickets, only to realize later that the advertisements were fraudulent and the promised tickets were nonexistent.

Even though Karen Elrick made multiple requests, the police made minimal progress in addressing the issue. Facebook too has been unsuccessful in taking down the fraudulent account linked to her hacking incident.
