Diljit Dosanjh Says Ed Sheeran Rehearsed Singing In Punjabi For 3 Days Before Performing Lover

THE collaboration between Diljit Dosanjh and Ed Sheeran was clearly a standout moment in 2024. Diljit, who has been busy promoting Amar Singh Chamkila, shared a captivating story about his meeting and chat with the American music artist Ed Sheeran. In a recent interaction with the popular stand-up comedian Anubhav Singh Bassi on Netflix India’s YouTube platform, Diljit revealed the challenges he faced in persuading Ed Sheeran to perform in Punjabi.

While talking about the preparation Ed Sheeran had to undergo ahead of his Punjabi performance, Dosanjh said, “It wasn’t my idea, he was very excited and he had rehearsed for two or three days. His band had made the song and sent it to us a week or 10 days in advance. Till the last minute, he felt that if he could not sing, I should carry on. I thought if he managed to sing in Punjabi it would be the first time in his life that it would happen.”

Diljit Dosanjh added, “Nobody ever imagined Ed Sheeran would sing in Punjabi, so that was a big deal to me. On the stage too, I was just listening to him, I wanted him to sing more.”

On March 16, Ed Sheeran had performed at a Mumbai concert which also included a rendition of the song Lover along with Diljit Dosanjh. The seamless collaboration caught his fans off guard and left them surprised.
