Pakistani feature film ‘In Flames’ will be screened at the Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF) 2023.

‘In Flames’ is one of the two feature films from Pakistan that will be screened at the RSIFF 2023.

In a recent interview, lead actresses Bakhtawar Mazhar said that the story will strike a chord with women in Saudi Arabia.

Bakhtawar Mazhar essays the role of the mother, Fariha, in ‘In Flames’.

The movie emerged as the second Pakistani film in 43 years to make it to Directors’ Fortnight, an event that runs parallel to the Cannes Film Festival'.

‘In Flames’ had released at the Atrium Cinemas in Pakistan’s southern Karachi city for a 12-day run which was extended until November 9.

The film has been directed by Pakistani-Canadian filmmaker Zarrar Kahn.

The film shows how how the patriarchy — a large, disorderly force — fractures the bond between mother and daughter.

The film revolves around Mariam, a young woman who is haunted by visions of the dead returning to life after the death of her family's patriarch leaves her and her mother Fariha in a vulnerable position.

‘In Flames’ is also Pakistan’s official submission under the Foreign Language Film category for the 96th Academy Awards.
