FOLLOWING the release of Taylor Swift’s latest album The Tortured Poets Department and its extended Anthology edition on April 19, Spotify made a groundbreaking announcement: the 31-song project became the first album to achieve 1 billion streams within a single week on the platform.

Remarkably, despite not even a full week passing since its release, The Tortured Poets Department has already claimed the title of Spotify’s most-streamed album within a single week. This accomplishment adds to Swift’s string of recent record-breaking feats.

Upon the album’s debut, TTPD swiftly became the platform’s most-streamed album in a single day, racking up an impressive 300 million streams. This surpasses the records previously held by two of her own albums, Midnights and 1989 (Taylor’s Version).

Additionally, the lead single from the new album, Fortnight, featuring Post Malone, quickly rose to become the most-streamed song on Spotify in a single day on April 19.

Prior to the release of TTPD, Swift had announced Fortnight as its inaugural single and shared insights into collaborating with Malone, 28. Upon the album’s release, Swift took to social media to declare the end of a “sensational and sorrowful” chapter of her life, expressing closure and reflection on the journey.

Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, had the privilege of an early listen to her new music, according to sources close to him. Kelce, always in awe of Swift’s talent, had an enthusiastic reaction to the album’s tracks.

Just two hours after the album’s release, Swift surprised fans by revealing that the project was actually a double album, dropping an additional 15 songs at 2 AM. Among these, two tracks seemingly nod to her relationship with Kelce. In So High School, Swift sings about a love reminiscent of high school days, subtly referencing an earlier interview where Kelce had prophetically chosen Swift as the one he would kiss among several celebrities.
