KDRAMA stars Gong Yoo and Song Hye Kyo are all set to headline a new upcoming show together. Reportedly, Gong Yoo is currently in talks to assume the lead role in a project crafted by esteemed screenwriter No Hee Kyung, while Song Hye Kyo is reportedly considering joining the cast.

A spokesperson from Gong Yoo’s agency, Management SOOP, confirmed the discussions, stating that Gong Yoo is reviewing the offer for No Hee Kyung’s new venture. The drama, penned by Noh Hee Kyung, is said to be a contemporary historical piece delving into the lives of individuals in the broadcasting realm. It aims to portray the fervor of those who navigated through a transformative period in South Korea’s entertainment industry.

Recent updates shed more light on this highly anticipated project. Korean media outlet OSEN revealed that the drama, featuring Song Hye Kyo and Gong Yoo, is poised to be a significant undertaking, with a substantial production budget of 80 million KRW.

Written by Noh Hee Kyung and helmed by Lee Yoon Jung, director of Gong Yoo’s famed Coffee Prince, the drama is slated for a 20-24 episode run.

Set against the backdrop of post-Korean War Korea from the 1950s to the 1980s, the storyline will chronicle the evolution of Korean show business. Studio Dragon, a leading production company in South Korea, in collaboration with Noh Hee Kyung’s agency GTist, will spearhead the project.

Anticipation is high for this drama, poised to exceed the scale of Disney+ sensation Moving, which boasted a 20-episode run with a budget of 50 billion won. However, as the script is not finalized and other details too remain subject to change.
