Chris Pratt, Katherine Schwarzenegger Draw Ire For Razing $12.5M Historic Residence In Quest For McMansion

CHRIS Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger are being slammed as they come under fire for the destruction of a historic $12.5 million residence in Los Angeles.

The couple had bought Zimmerman House, built by the acclaimed architect Craig Ellwood, last year. However, within days of purchase, they opted to bulldoze the structure, as reported by Robb Report.

Architecture aficionados and experts – who have been dismayed – and continue to condemn the actions of Chris Pratt, Katherine Schwarzenegger for demolishing what was referred to as a “remarkable embodiment of Modernist design from its era.”

“It’s sad to see icons of modernism needlessly destroyed by insensitive McMansion seekers,” designer David Hill posted on X.

“Maybe i’m different but i would have a hard time sleeping soundly if i spent $12.5 million on this house only to tear it down,” TV writer Caitie Delaney said.

“Unbelievable the notoriously onerous City of LA doesn’t allow anyone to do anything that makes actual sense –  Allowed this midcentury modern house to be TORN DOWN,” realtor Julie Chang posted on X.

Netizens too have been criticizing the couple. “Spoiled rich people destroyed a Craig Ellwood. If they wanted a bigger house, they should have bought a property with a bigger house on it, by a lesser architect, and remodeled that,” one post said.

“Man, what the hell is with people destroying works of mid-century art-chitecture,” another post read.

Pratt and Schwarzenegger – who exchanged vows in June 2019 – decided to relocate to the vicinity to stay closer to Katherine’s mother, Maria Shriver.
