KING Charles III expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support he has received from the public since his cancer diagnosis, revealing that the messages had moved him to tears. In his first weekly audience with the prime minister since stepping back from public duties to concentrate on his treatment, the 75-year-old monarch also convened with the Privy Council, a gathering of senior officials advising on governmental matters.

While King Charles III continues to abstain from public appearances, he remains committed to fulfilling his state responsibilities. Attired in a navy blue suit and tie, Charles shared light-hearted banter with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during their formal meeting at Buckingham Palace, as captured in a video released by the palace.

This marked Charles’ first filmed official engagement since late the previous year. His public schedule typically undergoes a reduction for several weeks surrounding the Christmas and New Year holidays, followed by the revelation of his cancer diagnosis earlier this month.

Less than three weeks after receiving treatment for an enlarged prostate, Buckingham Palace disclosed that Charles would undergo treatment for cancer, specifying it was not prostate cancer, though the exact type was not revealed. Despite the challenges posed by his diagnosis, Charles found solace in the increased support for cancer charities across the United Kingdom following the announcement.
