SMEEP Kang’s directorial Carry On Jatta 3, which witnessed a massive success at the box office during the first weekend of its release, has landed in legal trouble. A written complaint has been filed by Ishant Sharma, president of the Youth committee president of Shiv Sena Hind, and Sunil Kumar Bunty, Chairman of Punjab Shiv Sena (Taksali).

The complaint filed against the team of Carry On Jatta 3 alleges that the “movie has offended the religious sentiments of millions of Hindus.”

In a recent interaction with ANI, Sunil Kumar Bunty, chairman of the Shiv Sena Hind said, “We filed a complaint on behalf of Shiv Sena Hind. In the film Carry on Jatta 3 which is aimed at Hindus, a Brahmin who is seen performing Havan rituals is humiliated in a scene. Gippy Grewal, Binnu Dhillon and Gurpreet Ghuggi have violated the faith of millions of Hindus by throwing water on the ‘Havan Kund.’ Because in Hindu religion if any ritual has to be done, then ‘Havan’ is performed first.”

Sunil Kumar further added that a complaint has been against all the makers. He has also demanded section 295 to be imposed on them for “hurting religious sentiments.”

“These individuals attempt to increase their TRP by targeting on the Hindu religion. They would have destroyed or set the theatre on fire if this had happened to another caste. Hinduism is a very soft religion. That’s why we went to the government first,” Sunil said.

Sunil demanded suitable action within 24 hours failing which a protest will be held outside the residence of director Smeep Kang and Gurpreet Ghuggi.

In the first three days of its release, Carry on Jatta 3 has earned Rs. 15.60 crores in India and Rs 30 crores overseas. The film has created history by becoming the first Punjabi film to collect Rs. 10 crores in single day.

Actor Sonam Bajwa took to social media to pen a heartfelt note on the success of Carry On Jatta.  “Beyond grateful. Carry On Jatta has smashed not just the box office records but belief system that said Punjabi Cinema has limited reach and small audience,” Sonam said. The actor also thanked the viewers for watching the film and helped the Punjabi movie make history. “This is not just our victory but yours,” Sonam Bajwa wrote.
