IU & Tang Wei Share An Enigmatic Connection In Shh..; Watch

IU unveiled a captivating new music video titled “Shh..” on February 23, featuring Tang Wei alongside powerful female artists NewJeans’ Hyein and Joe Won Sun, with a special narration by Patti Kim.

The track, a B-side from IU’s latest mini album “The Winning,” was composed by Lee Jong Hoon and Lee Chae Gyu, with IU contributing all the lyrics herself. Notably, this release marks Tang Wei’s debut appearance in a music video.

In the dark-themed MV, IU becomes enmeshed in a mysterious connection with a woman possibly linked to a crime. “Shh..” is part of IU’s 6th mini album “The Winning,” which also includes tracks like “Holssi,” “Love wins all,” and “Shopper.” The music video highlights the vocal contributions of NewJeans’ Hyein and Joe Wonsun, with a special narration by Patti Kim.

The music video has received acclaim for its cinematic quality, with IU praised for her portrayal of women’s empowerment within a crime noir theme. The line “here’s to those women who remain an enigma forever etched somewhere in my time” serves as a tribute to women and their strength.

IU intentionally included women from different generations in the song, aiming for diversity. Hyein represents the teenage generation, IU herself represents the 30s, Joe Won Sun represents the 50s, and Patti Kim represents the 80s. Crafting the song was a lengthy process, with IU personally reaching out to each woman for collaboration.

IU penned the lyrics, showcasing the diverse vocal styles of each featured singer. Fans have praised not only the song’s cinematic quality but also the acting performances of IU and Tang Wei. Numerous theories have emerged, highlighting IU’s artistic craftsmanship.

“The Winning” is IU’s latest extended play, released on February 20, 2024, under EDAM Entertainment. Preceded by the single “Love wins all” on January 24, 2024, and followed by “Holssi” on February 16, the EP coincides with IU’s upcoming H.E.R. world tour starting in March, spanning across Asia, Europe, and the US until August 2024.
