GLEN Powell and Sydney Sweeney turned hearsay about their off-screen romance into a box office sensation with their December 2023 romantic comedy film, Anyone But You. Riding the wave of success, Powell and Sweeney continue to bask in the glory of their recent rom-com triumph.

Their film Anyone But You minted over $219 million worldwide following its premiere in December. Leading up to the release, speculation swirled about a potential real-life romance between the co-stars, particularly after Powell split from his ex-girlfriend Gigi Paris in April 2023. However, Powell and Sweeney revealed to The New York Times that these rumors actually worked in their favor.

Powell explained, “The two things that you have to sell a rom-com are fun and chemistry. Sydney and I have a ton of fun together, and we have a ton of effortless chemistry. That’s people wanting what’s on the screen off the screen, and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit — and it worked wonderfully. Sydney is very smart.”

In addition to her starring role as Bea, Sweeney also served as an executive producer for Anyone But You. The film chronicles the journey of Bea and Powell’s character Ben, two wedding guests with a turbulent history who decide to pretend to be a couple during a wedding weekend, leading to unexpected romantic entanglements.

Sweeney’s strategic efforts to generate buzz around Anyone But You paid dividends, as the film remains one of the top-grossing releases of 2024 at the domestic box office. Both actors have expressed their desire to collaborate on future projects.

“We’re brainstorming various ideas,” Sweeney shared in March regarding potential future endeavors with Powell. “We haven’t settled on anything concrete yet, but we’re exploring different possibilities and seeing what resonates the most.”

In the meantime, Powell is set to star in Hit Man, premiering for streaming audiences in June, followed by Twisters, hitting theaters on July 19. Sweeney most recently graced the screen in the horror film Immaculate. She is currently enjoying a vacation with her pals in Hawaii.
