DURING the filming of The Pickup, an Amazon MGM Studios production starring Eddie Murphy, a collision between a car and a truck resulted in injuries to several crew members, two of whom required hospitalization, as reported by both the studio and an insider close to the project on Tuesday to Associated Press.

The studio assured that the scene leading to the accident, which occurred in Georgia on Saturday, had been meticulously rehearsed with all necessary safety measures in place. Fortunately, neither Murphy nor other lead actors like Keke Palmer and Pete Davidson were present during the incident.

Injuries sustained ranged from minor bumps and bruises to more serious broken bones, with two crew members hospitalized, one of whom remained under care as of Tuesday. Thankfully, all are expected to recover fully.

According to a report by Associated Press, the accident transpired when a truck malfunctioned and collided with a car on location near Atlanta. They emphasized that it was an unforeseeable event, occurring during what was deemed a routine scene, not involving complex or hazardous stunts.

The scene was being filmed by a secondary unit, responsible for capturing less pivotal shots away from the main cast and director. A spokesperson for the studio expressed condolences for the injured crew members and emphasized ongoing efforts to ascertain the cause of the accident while reiterating the paramount importance of crew and cast safety. They confirmed that safety protocols had been rigorously reviewed and enforced prior to and throughout filming.

Specific details regarding the injuries or the roles of the affected crew members were not disclosed by the studio.

Directed by Tim Story, known for works like Barbershop and Fantastic Four, the production had been underway in and around Atlanta since February 20. Despite the setback, the film’s release schedule is not anticipated to be affected.
