HOLLYWOOD actor Kevin Spacey was cleared of sexual assault charges by jury in London on Wednesday. The Oscar-winning actor was pronounced “not guilty” after a 4 weeks-long trial which spared him a possible prison term and offered a career comeback after six years without work.

Incidentally, the verdict was pronounced on Kevin’s 64th birthday. Tears rolled down his eyes inside the courtroom after hearing the final verdict.

Speaking to the media waiting outside the court to speak to him, Kevin said, “I imagine that many of you can understand that there’s a lot for me to process after what has just happened today.” He further added, “I am enormously grateful to the jury for having taken the time to examine all of the evidence and all of the facts carefully before they reached their decision.”

Kevin was accused by three men of aggressively grabbing their crotches, describing him as “vile” and a “slippery, snaky” predator, reported AP. A fourth, an aspiring actor, said he awoke to the actor performing oral sex on him in the actor’s London apartment after he passed out after having a beer.

The actor thus faced nine charges, including multiple counts of sexual assault and one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent. Jurors reached the final verdict after a deliberation of 12.5 hours over a span of three days.

Several social media users took to Twitter to react to the verdict. One user wrote, “No doubt some complicated cases but a Jury has found Kevin Spacey innocent on all. He’s lost years of his life, his reputation and no doubt some friends. He is an innocent man, an incredible actor and I hope his talent can shine again.”

Another tweet read, “Actor was ‘tried by social media’, court hears. Very pleased with this verdict despite the best efforts of the cancel culture mob. One of the very best actors of his generation #KevinSpacey.”

“Kevin Spacey can now resume his career without a stain on his character,” said Mark Stephens, a London media lawyer to AP.
