GRETA Gerwig’s upcoming film Barbie, is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. The film stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the lead roles and is slated for a June-end release.

In a recent interview, the production designer of Barbie has revealed that director Greta Gerwig wanted excessive use of the color pink on the sets of the film. She further went on to reveal that the set was covered in shiny, glossy, or matte pink, so much so that it caused a global shortage of the color.

Production designer Sarah Greenwood told Architectural Digest that they took away all the shades of pink from Rosco, a leading company in the industry, and that “The world ran out of pink.”

Meanwhile, Margot Robbie recently revealed her experience of working on the film. She revealed how so many people would come to their sets to witness the shoot and said, “You’ve never seen so many grown men find excuses to come to set. Everyone would gravitate towards it. I mean, Fast + Furious was shooting at the same studio and they would all come over to look. Our crew was made up of extraordinarily talented people who’ve seen the greatest sets in the world and they would tear up. Everyone was so excited.”

Speaking about the soundtrack of the film, Margot added, “It not only fits the movie perfectly, but when you hear it, you will just want to get up and dance. Maybe after the London premiere, we can have a few drinks and cut a few shapes to it on the dance floor. I am always down for that.”

Barbie stars Margot Robbie in the titular role with Ryan Gosling as Ken. America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman, Sharon Rooney, Scott Evans, Ana Cruz Kayne, Ritu Arya, Jamie Demetriou, Emerald Fennell, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa and Connor Swindells also feature in the movie.

Barbie is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on July 21, 2023.
