The trailer features Zendaya as Tashi Donaldson, a teenage tennis prodigy who has bagged several championships and continues to be hailed as a future legend of the sport. As Tashi continues to get lauded for her performance as a Tennis player, she gets into a relationship with two male players, Art (Faist) and Patrick (O’Connor).

But Tashi’s life turns topsy-turvy when an injury brings her career to a halt.

Years later, Tashi is introduced to the viewers as the coach of her husband Art. As a coach, she has been successful in transforming Art into a Grand Slam champion. When Art hits a losing streak, Tashi compels him to enter a Challenger event so that he can begin a perfect comeback story.

Her plan goes awry when Art is pitted against Patrick, his former best friend and Tashi’s ex.

The film’s synopsis reads, “Challengers stars Zendaya as Tashi Duncan, a former tennis prodigy turned coach and a force of nature who makes no apologies for her game on and off the court. Married to a champion on a losing streak (Mike Faist – West Side Story), Tashi’s strategy for her husband’s redemption takes a surprising turn when he must face off against the washed-up Patrick (Josh O’Connor – The Crown) – his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend. As their pasts and presents collide, and tensions run high, Tashi must ask herself, what will it cost to win.”

Challengers will be released in UK and US cinemas on September 15.
