IT has been a year since popular actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu made headlines for being diagnosed with the autoimmune condition, Myositis. Recently seen in the film Shaakuntalam, the actor took to her Instagram handle to pen a long heartfelt note that examined her battle with the disease, and how the past one year was about “seeking meaning, reflection and introspection”.
While talking about the battles she had with her body, the actor explained how in the past one year, she couldn’t consume “salt, sugar or grains”, and had to depend on “a cocktail of meds for main course”.
As Samantha puts it, the last one year wasn’t just about professional failures, but also about offering prayers to find strength and peace. “Of professional failures too… to make things more interesting. A year of prayers and poojas… not praying for blessings and gifts… but praying to just find strength and peace,” she added.
Samantha goes on to explain how it is “ok” when nothing happens as you wished it would. “A year that has taught me that not everything goes your way all the time. And more importantly, that it’s ok when it doesn’t. That I must control the controllables, let go off the rest, and keep moving forward one step at a time. That sometimes it’s not about grand successes, but that functioning forward is in itself a win. That I mustn’t sit around waiting for things to be perfect again or wallowing in the past. That I must hang on to love and those I love… and not give hate the power to affect me.”
“There will be so many of you fighting far harder battles. I pray for you too. The Gods may delay, but they never deny. They never deny peace, love, joy and strength to those who seek it. The only things worth seeking,” she concluded.
The actor had also shared photos of Church of Saint Sava in Serbia, where she has been shooting her upcoming web series Citadel with filmmaker duo Raj and DK.
Within minutes, several of her followers and friends shared their comments and expressed their love and support.
Sophie Choudry Athiya Shetty and Raashii Khanna took to the comment section to share loved-up emojis.
While majority of Samantha’s fans wished just the best for her, others lauded her courage and referred to her as the “warrior”.
After she was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease, Samantha decided to take a break from work. She was shooting her Telugu film Kushi when she was diagnosed with a medical condition.
