RANVEER Singh and Alia Bhatt are currently on a promotional spree for their upcoming film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The duo were recently in Delhi for the launch of their new song, Ve Kamleya, where they interacted with the media and spoke about their film and shooting experience.

During the interaction, Ranveer called RRKPK ‘the most Karan Johar-est film’ ever. “It has the Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham feeling in it. It is deliberate. Karan is bringing back that type of cinema that we have grown up watching. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and K3G are timeless cult classics he created. These films form such an integral part of our growing-up years.”

He further added, “All of those elements are in this film now including colors, family, songs, happiness and joy. I really think this is a film which will make people happy. You’ll have a smile on your face and warmth in your heart when you walk out of the theaters.”

Speaking about his experience of working with veteran actors Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan for the film, Ranveer recalled his first shot with the Sholay star. “I definitely had a moment on the first day I shot with Dharam ji. I was taking my moment before the scene started, it was a face-to-face shot with him, I was just processing the scene, and they said roll, camera and I looked up to begin the performance and that’s where it hit me, and I was like, ‘Ohh my God!! It’s Dharmendra.’ And I had to very quickly collect myself and perform because action had been called. I definitely had a moment.”

Ranveer called working with Dharmendra ‘a moment straight out of fantasy’ and added, “It was surreal to share the screen space with a legend of Indian cinema. It was a huge deal for me. I’ve grown up watching him. For me, it was straight out of my fantasy. He is like a walking talking ball of love, he is all heart, he is so emotional.”

“We have really created some memories while making this film which I will cherish, always. What a great honor, what a great privilege and what a wonderful thing to have collaborated with such a fine artist,” he added.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani marks Alia and Ranveer’s second onscreen collaboration after Gully Boy. The film is Karan’s return to the director’s chair after a gap of 7 years and is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on July 28, 2023.
