SOCIAL media may have played a key role in bringing celebrities closer to their fans. But we can’t deny the fact that it has also left our favourite actors vulnerable. There have been enough instances to prove how celebrities have been victims of media attacks and suffered tragic consequences for being abused publicly. Maintaining sanity in the midst of chaos isn’t as easy as it may sound. But actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui knows how to keep cool and maintain peace amidst insanity.

Mujhe pata hai ki uska koi chara nahi hai. There is no solution to it. Since there is no solution, it is best to chill. Kahi chale jao ghumne, iske alawa kuch aur nahi ho sakta hai. Why not derive inspiration from those who have difficulties to combat and are doing just about everything to survive. Aise time mei agar un logon ki thodi help kardo  to zindagi ka saara pressure gayab ho jata hai,” Nawazuddin said.

Nawazuddin was recently trolled for calling depression an urban concept. In an interview to Mashable India, the actor said that rural India doesn’t suffer from mental illnesses. He further added that pavement dwellers in cities don’t struggle with depression either. The actor was slammed for ignoring farmer suicides and trivialising issues related to mental health.

Nawazuddin and Neha chat with screenbox.

Neha Sharma, Nawazuddin’s co-star from the recently-released movie Jogira Sara Ra Ra, who has often been trolled for her fashion choices, feels blessed to have a supportive family that offers the right kind of help.

“What has worked in my favour is the support that I get from my family. Days when things don’t go the way I had expected them to, I know I have people I can fall back on. They are encouraging, supportive and help me get out of every difficulty. So while it can be tricky for someone who lives alone, I feel blessed that I have a family who will always help me during hard times,” Neha said.

Known for playing layered and complex roles with ease and perfection, Nawazuddin feels content when he doesn’t get trapped in “saste” emotions such as happiness, sadness or fear.
“I try my best to stick to neutral emotions. I still have to work a lot on such emotions. That’s my dream.  Let’s see if that dream can get fulfilled,” he said, adding, “I don’t get hurt when people judge me for the roles I pick. I’m happy to offer a variety of roles to my fans. So yes, there is no room for the viewers to judge my movie choices.”

Jogira Sara Ra Ra revolves around Jogi (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), a caterer and matchmaker, who leaves no stone unturned in saving Dimple (Neha Sharma) from an impending marriage by drawing a plan to kidnap her. Interestingly, Nawazuddin’s role as a matchmaker isn’t just restricted to the film. In reality too, actresses who have worked with him have gotten married within a year. “Yes, that’s a fact. Actresses who have shared the screen space with me, get married within a year. Give me a year and Neha will also get married,” he laughed. Surprised by Nawazuddin’s statement, Neha said her parents would be happy to hear this. “My parents are looking at Nawaz and saying you are our man. Just bring that magic.”
