It is confirmed! Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta’s much-appreciated thriller ‘Vadh’ will get a sequel! The film was screened recently at the 54th edition of the International Film Festival in Goa in the Indian Panorama section.

In an exclusive interaction with ScreenBox, Ankur Garg, producer, Luv Films, said “Yes, ‘Vadh 2’ is happening. Some work is happening on the film. What we realized in the last one year is that the people really loved the characters, story and got attached to it. We feel there is a potential for the sequel.”

Jaspal Singh Sandhu, who had directed and co-written ‘Vadh’, too confirmed the development, and explained how they have immense pressure to combat because of the sequel. “Yes, the sequel is work in progress. There is immense pressure on us after the success of ‘Vadh’. We are currently working on the script of ‘Vadh 2’,” he said.

For the unversed, ‘Vadh’ ‘ revolves around Shambhunath Mishra (Sanjay Mishra), a retired school teacher from Gwalior who takes money Prajapati Pandey (Sumit Sachdeva), to fund his son’s  education and job abroad. Since Shambhunath and his wife Manju (Neena Gupta) get no financial support from their son, they are subjected to harassment by Prajapati. An incident makes Shambhunath kill Prajapati. The film, with its brilliant performances and gripping script, is thrilling to the core. It managed to leave a lasting impact on the viewers because it was dark, haunting, and exceedingly gruesome.

While speaking to ScreenBox, Neena Gupta – who sounded upbeat about the appreciation she received from the viewers for her impeccable performance in ‘Vadh’ – said the film worked because of its theme. “It feels great when the viewers love your performance. I believe, the viewers could identify with the film because of its relatable topic. There are so many parents who send their kids abroad with the hope they’d return and help them. Unfortunately, that doesn’t happen. Parents are stuck paying the debt when the children have their share of battles to combat abroad.” Sanjay too echoed Neena’s thoughts. “It was a genuine effort to make everything used in the film relatable. From the house we live in to the clothes we wear and how Neena and I treat each other as a couple, every aspect is genuine. Kisi character ke kareeb rehne ke liye aapko apna hona padta hai.”

’Vadh’ is presented by Luv Films’ Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg and ]has been produced by J Studios and Next Level Productions.
