ONE of the most popular and successful actors in the Hindi film industry, Alia Bhatt is at the top of her game. She will be making her international debut this month with the Hollywood film, Heart of Stone. Apart from acting, Alia dons many hats; a successful producer, entrepreneur and a new mom.
The 30-year-old star got back to work just weeks after giving birth to her daughter Raha. During a recent event in Delhi, Alia shared her thoughts on the significance of maintaining work-life balance.
“You have to balance your family, work life, children, maintain your household, yourself, your health and so much more. But we do it, because such is life and you need to keep moving. You have to put one step in front of the other and not think about what you’re not doing right,” she added.
The actor also explained how getting through the day, at times, can be a struggle, but that shouldn’t leave one sad. “Keep putting one step in front of the other and don’t think about what you’re not doing right. Think about how you have gotten through the day with a smile on your face.”
Since responsibilities of work and home can mean more stress to a new working mom, it’s okay to shed a tear if things go out of control. “Even if you’ve a couple of tears rolling down, it’s okay because such is life. So the most important thing is that I don’t have all the answers and I do not manage.”
The Gangubai star, who welcomed her first child with husband Ranbir Kapoor in November 2022 added that her daughter is her top priority. “I know what my top priorities are, my daughter being at the top of the mountain. You just have to keep going and not think about how well you’re doing and what you’re doing. Stop and give a pat on your back to yourself every now and then and just keep going.”
Alia, who kicked off her entrepreneurial journey with sustainable kidswear brand Ed-a-Mamma, explained how the idea of launching a maternity collection came about. “We launched my brand in the middle of the pandemic. It started off as a thought to create a sustainable clothing brand for children, but when I got pregnant, I realized that there weren’t many maternity wear options for pregnant women. Thus came the idea of launching the maternity collection.”
“I didn’t start by thinking that I want to create an Ed-a-mamma universe, but that’s what I want to build now, where you feel very connected to your nature and planet and just elevate the child within you,” she added.
Does she have an advice to new entrepreneurs? “It’s all about finding the gap. What’s not there for you in the market will not be there for several others. You have to find the gap and then plan around it,” Alia explained.
After a short maternity break, Alia will be back at the movies later this month with Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The film also stars Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan and is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on July 28, 2023.
The actor will be making her American movies debut with Netflix’ Heart of Stone. Also starring Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan, the film will be released on August 11, 2023.
