Akshay Kumar & Parineeti Chopra’s The Great Indian Rescue To Release In October

THE release date of The Great Indian Rescue which features actors Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra in key roles has finally got its release date. The movie will now hit the theatres on October 5, 2023.

The film revolves around late Jaswant Singh Gill who led India’s first coal mine rescue mission. The Great Indian Rescue marks the pair’s second outing after Kesari which had released in 2019.

Born in Sathiala, Amritsar, on November 22, 1939, Jaswant studied at Khalsa College, and was posted in Raniganj in 1989 when he engineered a special rescue capsule to save the lives of several miners trapped inside a flooded coal mine.

He bagged multiple awards for his brave feat and was also honoured with “Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak” by President Ramaswamy Venkataraman in 1991.

Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, the film has been produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Jackky Bhagnani and Ajay Kapoor.

According to a source close to the film, the actors are currently shooting for the film in the United Kingdom at the picturesque locations of York and Salby. “Their working hours are quite hectic as the team wants to complete the schedule on time with shooting going on for about 10-15 hours everyday,” the source was quoted as saying by Firstpost.

 “The film is about a real-life incident wherein an engineer Jaswant Gill saved many lives in a West Bengal Coal mine. The film’s ensemble cast consists of actors like Akshay Kumar, Parineeta Chopra, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Arif Zakaria, Pawan Malhotra and Kumud Mishra. Capsule Gill is a performance-oriented film and will show many from the ensemble in a new light! The film will also be wrapping the first schedule of the mega budgeted project soon,” the source added.
