OM Raut’s Adipurush may have had a record-breaking weekend, but its controversial content clearly impacted its revenue. In the last three days, the movie witnessed a steep drop. The film, despite earning 300 crore worldwide over the first weekend, witnessed a shocking dip of 75 percent on Monday which further dropped on Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to Box Office India, the movie’s day 6 revenue added up to approximately ₹ 3.25 crore net which brought the film’s total to about ₹ 120 crore net. Adipurush‘s revenue has been redeemed to a certain extent by the film’s Telugu version.

As reported by trade portal Sacnilk, the early estimates suggested that the movie raked in about Rs 10.80 crore in India on the fifth day of its release on Tuesday. The film was successful in collecting Rs 86.75 crore on its release day, followed by Rs 65.25 crore on its first Saturday, Rs 69.10 crore on its first Sunday, and approximately Rs 20 crore on its first Monday.

The makers of Adipurush have now revised some of the dialogues that have been receiving massive flak. For the unversed, the movie has been lambasted for its pedestrian dialogues and misrepresentation of its characters. One dialogue – “Kapda tere baap ka, tel tere baap ka, aag bhi tere baap ki, aur jalegi bhi tere baap ki” – which was spoken by actor Devdatta Nage as Bajrang, was termed offensive. Now, the word “baap” has been replaced by “Lanka”. But will the recent change work in favour of the movie’s BO collection? Maybe.

While Adipurush dipped at the box office, animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse could rake in the moolah in India with its shows being doubled in its fourth week. IMAX and 4DX screens too had increased their show count for the film.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has reportedly entered the Rs 50 crore club, with theatres increasing shows in its fourth week. The film has earned Rs 50 crore GBO in three weeks in India and $500 million globally.
